Spring Bento Contest

I recently made a bento for my sister's birthday, and entered it into the JustBento/FrenchBento/Bentoandco Spring Bento Contest.  I am completely thrilled that out of 156 entries, mine was chosen as one of the top 15.  However, now that I'm in the finals, the winners are being chosen via user vote.  So, if you have a moment, please go vote.

My bento is 108 - CRF.  The contest is set up so that you can only vote for one bento (which is unfortunate -- I think there's be a much more representative spread if you could vote for your top three or four).  I'd be honored if you would vote for mine -- however, if you spot another bento that you really like, go ahead and vote for that one.  The more votes out there, the better.

I think yours is lovely and not too twee, and an actual meal, all of which are sometimes lacking in bento. And very spring - jeez, you got *mono no aware* in a bento! Go you!

Thank you so much!!! Today's been kind of crummy, so that helped brighten up my day.

I still need to make you and your boy bentos at some point....using the onigiri molds you two gave me. Just let me know when's a good time.

Thanks! <3

Yeah -- I really love how cute/pretty some of the smaller bentos can get, but I also wish there was a little more emphasis on making food look pretty without putting a face or design on it. Something to balance out the community. I know that a lot of bento makers are making food for their kids, and putting a face on it makes kids more enthusiastic about eating new foods; but a lot of bento makers are also adults, feeding themselves. We go out to supper all the time, and "ooh" and "ahh" over attractively presented suppers that don't have faces on them... why can't that be something people look for in bentos also? And that doesn't mean that people need to stop making the kawaii bentos -- they're fun. Just mix it up. Keep it balanced.

Also, there seems to be a lack of "male sized"/900ml bentos being made. Maybe I should order another larger sized bento box and make big portioned bentos for you and silvercel...

And, speaking of making you food, I need to see if I can't recreate the lemon-ginger-soy chicken for you. Surprisingly, my sister and mom liked it enough that they're still making comments about it, weeks later...
